ecerytime i take medication my mind tricks me into thinking it’ll react badly so i have to stop. did prozac have any bad side effects for u?
@Anonymous I have felt the same way as you for many years. I reluctantly started at the lowest dose and Dr raised dosage slowly. Seems to be helping some. I had some anxiety side effects
My OCD was worse this past year when I was on 40mg of prozac, I went up to 60mg in the summer and my depression has gotten better but I'm still struggling with my OCD. I'm keeping the prescription at 60mg though and glad my psych suggested I increase my dose.
Everyone is different so you cant really compare meds. It has been documented that OCD sometimes needs a higher dose than would be recommended for anxiety or depression but that doesn't mean its true across the board. Im on a relatively low/mid range dose of my medication and its working great. You have to remember meds are the cure all, they are there to reduce the anxiety so you can do the work to treat your behavior. upping the dose wont make the OCD go away more if you're not doing the ERP and behavioral work along with it.
I take 20 and it seems to be helping mine
I've been on 40mg Prozac since 07 it's help a lot, I thought about upping it to 60.
I am honestly desperate to try anything, I tried prozac and it works but it makes me gain weight which makes my body image issues even worse, so I need help. Has anyone tried it?
Hello. I am a mom of a 15 yo who has been diagnosed with severe OCD and also depression and anxiety disorders. Medication was recommended. Specifically clomipramine. As of now he refuses to take it. Says he 50 % of the way considering it. He was not able to complete most of his HW last week, spends much of the day feeling anxious, isolates in his room for hours. Says he wants to try to manage it - says he’s doing better bc he was able to focus in his math class - says he doesn’t want med bc he is afraid it will mess w his mind (numb his feelings). Any advice for how to get him over this hump? Any good experience from med? It’s hard for me to watch him suffer knowing that med is an option and he could be feeling better. Also hard to watch him get zeros in classes when he is smart and capable. Thank you ahead of time. Also, his NOCD therapist is on vacation but had recommended med as well to help my son engage better in ERP
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
