Scared of posts being misinterpreted

Like an hour ago I posted that I had an involuntary hand movement the exact same time that my brother walked by at my side (my hand didn’t touch him or anything it just moved) , and since I was looking for reassurance nocd marked my post as that, but I’m scared of me being misinterpreted, because I forgot mentioning that my hand DID NOT touched anything , it just moved, but I’m ruminating about people misunderstanding my post and thinking that I did something that I don’t and I feel so anxious right now 😭

I could tell you that no one here is judging you and that we all understand, but it will help much more to sit with this feeling. What if we did misinterpret it? What if people are judging you? If you can try sitting with those thoughts you may make some real lasting progress towards getting better, all from a single post. I know you can do it!

You’re not responsible for how others interpret your posts, try to remember that people don’t know you personally so wouldn’t 100% understand your situation. If they interpret it wrong then so what🤷🏻‍♀️ not to be rude but that’s their problem not yours lol. I saw your post and understood completely!

This is kind of unrelated but what is commonly meant by involuntary movement/involuntary tics. I’ve tried to google this but I never get consistent answers. I’ve always struggled to understand if what I deal with falls under this category. I have these certain tics that I do or else I feel weird and wrong and I have to repeatedly do them, especially when I’m stressed or when I miss my meds. They’re like this really strong urge that comes on and and I kind of just start doing it without thinking about it bc I’ve been doing them so long and so consistently that I’ll start doing them without thinking about it like making this clicking noise in my throat or hand/finger movement or this throat cough sound. If I focused on them I could stop myself from doing them but it would cause me a lot of anxiety and bad internal feeling, and most of the time they happen without me thinking about it. Are these considered involuntary movements? Like I don’t consciously think to do them every time but I have the ability to stop them if I focus on it and repress the feeling. Idk this has always confused me. Like it’s not like when your eye starts twitching involuntarily from magnesium deficiency because you can’t stop that from happening and your eye will twitch whether you try to think about it or not. So if my tics aren’t like that, does it mean they’re voluntary?

@pufferfishe Hi, I don’t really know about tics so I can’t give you an answer but I think some other member of the community do, so I encourage you to ask because even though I think I had experiences similar to yours, I think I’ll confuse you more since i don’t really know the answer :(

Pocd

Im a father who loves my family and child and wouldnt do anything to hurt them. I had to change the diaper and I saw an area that needed to be wiped on the leg but got anxious. I slightly moved my hand to wipe my hand was out away from my body and my child. I had the thought to grab the towel and wipe to be clean. But i got anxious so my hand moved and then i pulled my hand away. I didnt go toward the towel my hand moved near my child but was far away. Ocd says i was going to do something bad but i know thats not who I am. And i know my therapist said my mind can involuntarily send signals due to anxiety to make me move my hand as a false alarm and then i pull my hand away obviously because i have no intention of doing anything bad. Ocd just still makes me feel guilty and like i was going to do something. But i know thats not who I am.

Fear that everyone hates me

Hi all, my ocd has been flaring up lately and I’m not sure why. I think it may be due to stress and anxiety involving school and the hurricanes (I live in Florida) anyways I keep having random intrusive thoughts involving my real event and a lot of false memories are popping up, they feel so real it’s like I can feel everything in them even though I haven’t actually felt them. It’s so weird, like sometimes I will watch a movie and be able to feel the texture of snow or a piece of clothing even though I’ve never felt it before. I have noticed when I get those “phantom” ? touch feelings that they cause a lot of false memory intrusive thoughts. I’ve also been having intrusive thoughts that because no one interacts with my posts on here that everyone hates me and knows about me and thinks I’m horrible and disgusting or that someone is talking about me behind my back and telling people to stay away from me and then I’m a horrible person. I hate OCD so much, I hate that I ruminate constantly on little things and mistakes I’ve made and things I can’t let go. I just hate it so much. Does anyone else struggle with these thoughts or even the “phantom feelings/touches” I’m not sure what to call them sometimes I also get them with certain foods or smells even if I hadn’t had them before or smelt them before. It’s so weird
