Rest in Jesus, Today
Dear my fellow friends and OCD warriors, I have done my fair share of treatment and research into this. Witnessing the decline of my own mental stability over the last 6 years, I have concluded that OCD in it of itself does not exist in terms of it being classified as a disease or illness. Yes… you heard me right, and I know what you may be thinking, “How is it not a mental illness?” or “How am I not sick?”. I do believe in medical diagnosis and therapeutic treatment, but I do NOT believe that YOU are sick. This is a lie implanted by the brain or by someone else into your own consciousness and recollection. It is a daily struggle and battle between the thoughts, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Being able to discern where my thoughts are coming from has helped me distinguish the truth on whether or not the thoughts are truly mine or were planted into my mind. When I say planted, I am not saying I myself created the thought, but rather it was given to me by an outside source. Either originating from the outside world or being planted by a spiritual force such as the adversary (aka satan). Not saying everything that we think that is good comes from God, or every evil thought from the devil, but some thoughts don’t have any importance or inherit value. Some thoughts we do plant ourselves, and some will reinforce ruminating behavior. Referring to the topic of OCD, the thoughts we worry about the most are the negative and ego-dystonic ones. Once recognized, these thoughts have no face value, up until the point that we begin to question them and divert our attention towards them. Try to think of these thought attacks as pests living around a house, who are hungry for Food (Food = energy/ time put into thought), they need Food to survive. The more Food supply, the more they show up, and the more fortified they become, bringing their friends as-well as bigger pests. The less Food, the more anxious and the more irrational they become. Given enough time without Food, they will starve and die or they will have to look elsewhere for the Food. We battle against spirits and principalities of evil, not pests. They may seem real enough for us to have the urge to act against them. Once we believe that these pests or demons are not true to our morality and are actually here to cause disturbance, then we will begin to see things at a different perspective. Who tries to keep a pest around by feeding it everyday? The thoughts that still pop up that are disturbing don’t have to be. Start by starving them, give them less attention (This is what therapists tell you not to do). Then they may eventually fade and grow weak, either to be replaced by new ones trying to cause more disruption, or will starve out. If they do try to come back and trouble you more, know that the spirit inside of you is stronger. “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 & ”Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7. The bible also says “Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.” Now I am near and closer than ever to being free from these thoughts, which is a hard thing to say because I have been attacked on a regular basis for the last four years. I was diagnosed with OCD in 2020, but I’ve really had it since I was about nine years old. Therapists will tell you the cycle never ends which I refuse to accept, I will not accept these thought, they are not a part of me anymore, and I won’t be a part of them either. Jesus loves you, and welcomes you as you are. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matt 11:28. If you believe evil exists, why associate with it? You can’t have dark without light, or light without dark. Good exists too and it’s better to associate with God and his goodness rather than reaffirming the devils lies and perversions, who’s entitlement is of evil and wickedness. God bless you all, I pray that Jesus encounters you and that God’s spirit was found in this letter. “Do not fear for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my Righteous right hand.” Isa 41:10
