Is there someone here who can do my diagnosis free? I did self diagnosis and for a year firmly believed its OCD but now I get thoughts that it's not OCD bcz I did on my own. It says it's only bcz your religion prohibits the things you have thoughts about, that's why you repulse them so it's not OCD. I can't take therapy as well so I'm very disturbed
unfortunately, to get a diagnosis, you do need to meet with a professional to determine whether you fit the criteria. However, you’re not alone! And you can still track and explore your symptoms.
I can't afford therapy at the moment so I'm just panicking. My all symptoms matches but I still get doubts about it not being OCD
@Rose_random Hey sorry you are not able to work with a professional at the moment. Doubts about having OCD - or doubts about whether a particular thought is part of your OCD - are very common, even once you have a diagnosis. Part of the process is to learn to treat the thoughts as OCD while at the same time embracing the fact that you will never have 100% certainty about what is OCD and what isn’t - simply because we can never have 100% certainty about anything.
@it's just a thought So is taking an approach of I don't know what these thoughts means but I'm going to ignore it and stick to my religion anyways okay? I get thoughts that I'll never be happy in that case but when I accept those thoughts as true, I feel empty and void, almost guilty and unmotivated to live. I don't know what's happening
@Rose_random That sounds very rough, sorry that you are dealing with all of that. No one should have to feel that way. One thing I have found helpful is to try to separate the thought from the “reality” behind the thought. It’s the difference between saying to yourself “I accept that X is true” vs “I accept that I am having the THOUGHT that X is true”. Because thoughts aren’t inherently true or false or good or bad, and there is no thought that your brain can come up with that can change who you are as a person and what you hold to be important.
@it's just a thought The problem is that I don't know who I'm as a person anymore. My self confidence has been dented after getting these thoughts again and again for many years now. My religion is important to me the most but every thought makes me feel like I'm born to oppose it. I don't want to be homosexual yet I get constant thoughts and fears of being one to the extent that I fear even looking at my sisters or any women in general, in fear that I'll feel attracted to them. I don't know what this is at all
@Rose_random These thoughts can definitely be related to OCD. Although it’s easier said than done, remember that you are not your thoughts! You can observe them without absorbing them. Who you are, are the actions you make on a day to day basis. It’s also okay not to know yet who you are or what you want. We’re all learning that a long the way. You don’t need to box yourself into a category or put any kind of label on yourself. At the end of the day you’re only human. I hope you’re able to receive more help in the future. take care!

Can someone please tell me if there are any other similar diagnosis to OCD I am convinced that I was misdiagnosed or that I miss spoke to the extent that I have made the provider who did my psych evaluation misdiagnose me with OCD. I have intrusive thoughts of suicide constantly. I have intrusive thoughts that cause me intense distress and disgust. I am constantly ruminating for hours on different situations and even crying as I type this because I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I feel like I’m not aligned in a prescriptive way with what OCD is. I am extremely frustrated. I just want to know what is wrong with me And there are so many things that I see within the OCD community that align with my experiences, but I feel like from conversations I’m having maybe I’m just anxious or a flawed person and I’m not saying that for reassurance I really feel that way I don’t know what else to do. This is a recent diagnosis so anyone who has felt this way or has similar diagnosis to OCD it would be great to hear from you. Thanks.
I really do want to go to therapy or psychiatrist to diagnosed my OCD and give me a treatment but it costs a lot. OCD ruins my life and consumes my mind I wish I can take a break from my own brain. Having OCD but undiagnosed feels like I’m crazy because people think I made that up but they don’t know how I’m struggling since I was a kid. So anyone have an advice for treat OCD especially checking OCD that doesn’t cost money? because I don’t work yet..🥲
Ok, so first of all, I’m undiagnosed. However, I’ve been pretty certain for a while now that what I’ve been struggling with is OCD. My problem though is that it’s not easy to get diagnosed, and in some cases, it would require me to pay money. It frustrates me that I have to pay to deal with my mental health. Is it worth it for me to get diagnosed? I know I don’t need a diagnosis to start healing and working on these things, but I also don’t want to be “self diagnosing” the problem, because that makes me feel like a liar and an imposter. My other problem is that I fear my family doctor won’t properly diagnose me. I came to him about mental health related issues once before, and he read off a very generic list of mental health symptoms. when he got to what sounded like the ‘OCD’ section, we asked one or two very generic questions that had nothing to do with my themes, and since I couldn’t relate, I just answered no to them. He then told me I was fine, that I was just a “type A personality”, and that I was just being too hard on myself. I fear that my doctor might not be very knowledgeable or up to date on current information regarding OCD, and this might make it increasingly difficult for me to get diagnosed. Another problem is my symptoms seem to come and go. I often have an obsessive cycle that can last months at a time, and then it just goes away. Sometimes I won’t experience any symptoms for years. This makes me feel like I don’t actually have OCD or that it’s not ‘bad’ enough to be diagnosable.
