Does anyone else find it hard to make eye contact with people? (it makes me feel like they can somehow see through my brain, and read my thoughts, ) that’s something I struggle with especially when I have flares ! And does anyone else feel like their OCD spikes when they’re experiencing there period ☹️☹️☹️
Same here. I even find it hard to make eye contact with my kids. and other people that I’m close with .. especially with the opposite sex because I feel like I’m giving them eyes of wink wink I know it’s crazy and silly but I contact for me it’s hard . And then I criticize myself like what is your problem make eye contact people are gonna think you’re not engaging in the conversation or you don’t like them but it’s the complete opposite. I just don’t want to send the wrong eye signals I guess, if that makes sense

@taytay86 I have had so many confused feelings from others towards me because of this eye contact situation (on top of my overall demeanor, Ect.) there’s also something here about trauma and being socialized as a girl and how attractiveness and others perception come into play.
Yes I totally understand this. I’m on the autism spectrum as well, and I learned early to make hard eye contact with people but I find when it’s with the people I’m closest to and I’m holding complex feelings i avoid eye contact for this very reason. And 1000000% your mood and hormones affect your neurological experiences—my period used to incapacitate me in terms of OCD. Now it has shifted because I’m on HRT, but it’s still present especially right before I get it.

I also have spikes when I am on my period - you are not alone!
I use to be good at making friends but since my OCD and my mental health got bad I struggled with making friends I am know in OCD recovery and have been struggling making friends.
Does anyone Else’s ocd flare up bad when in stressful life situations? I was doing amazing and now that I’m having some drama with my life it seems to have come back with a vengeance. Anyone else?
Hi everyone, I suffer from a really embarrassing form of ocd and it’s one of the worst ones-staring ocd. I quit my job last year because of it and I’m going back to work next week and I need some tips as my job is very customer forward. I have really bad anxiety around people wearing anything that shows their stomach or cleavage. My ocd always fears I’m going to look at the wrong places and it even goes to their movements randomly and makes me look like a weirdo because my eye darts to their hands. It’s gotten so bad it’s become a habit and now my eye instantly goes to those areas. It’s very frustrating and it’s ruining my social life. Please no judgement, I know it’s a weird form and I wish I never developed it. Any help is appreciated.
