Hi! (first post lol) wondering if there is anyone else here that also deals with medical/ health concern type of OCD with also having chronic and sometimes scary health issues? if so, any advice on how you might help yourself through a OCD flare up and fears over symptoms and unknowns? (But mostly it would be great just to know that Iām not alone in this <3)
health concern ocd is like my biggest theme, so i have a ton of experience with this heavy on the dont google any symptoms!!! it ALWAYS makes me feel worse and more paranoid. im currently paranoid about lymphoma so ive banned myself from googling anything else, lmao also, its important to remember that stress makes every physical condition worse, AND you may subconsciously gain symptoms of what you're worried about (absolutely vile of ocd to do) something that i tell myself to calm myself down is no amount of worrying or researching is going to help, and that all i can do is take care of myself and if it gets really bad, go see a doctor you're definitely not alone, i hope you're doing okay
@kiwibasket oh i forgot to mention, remember that doctors take a look at your history, family history, levels, etc and can be more accurate than google ever could because it doesnt know you a lot of symptoms for things are the same, google has no way of knowing which one you may have

I definitely deal with this. Itās very hard and can definitely reinforce the idea that the things we worry about are truly happening to us.

Me too! For one I stopped googling my symptoms, and i try to be pro-active (maybe ocd) instead with what i can control like nutrition. But i still really struggle to tell the difference and to know how/when to react and respond. Its sooo hard and i havenāt found many resources that target this particular intersection. Please share if you do!
Hey Everyone, I have been recently diagnosed with OCD within the past year. Finding this information out gave me an answer to so many years of struggle and feeling alone. I have had ups and downs and have been successful for a long time along this path of my own. Unfortunately, I experienced a massive panic attack 3 years ago that hospitalized me and has left me feeling at the 'start' again, but this time it feels worse than it ever has before. Anything that puts me potentially by myself or having to do anything by myself I cannot fathom, I can barely make it to the gas station at the corner of my house alone. I have been in therapy, went through EMDR/ACT and CBT. I was doing great for a little bit and even made one appointment about 10 minutes away from my home all alone by myself (also note I am in a new area completely that I just moved too). I was on medication at this time *lexapro 20MG*, I am no longer on it due to my bloodwork being extremely abnormal for my age. Now that I am no longer on it - I have fear creeping in that the lexapro kept me sane and that I cannot cope without it. I understand this is not the case entirely but there is something in me that believes that to be true. Long story short, I am looking for individuals who have had the same experience as me and could give me some hope into getting back to my normal routine (even knowing I have OCD now). I just want to be independent again and not burden my loved ones and learn to be okay with myself. Thanks in advance!
hey everyone. iām not sure if this app will help me or not, but i feel the need to try anything because i canāt keep living like this. i struggle with obsessing over everything in my life. it feels like everyday my brain picks a new thing in my life to obsess over. for the past couple days ive been obsessing over my interpersonal relationships. for example; ādo i like the people im withā ādo i like my friends as more than just friendsā ādo i actually love these people or am i lying to everyoneā. itās been really messing with me and making me question my support system. i canāt stop stressing. iām even afraid to talk about it with my therapist because i have those thoughts about her too. iām new to my OCD diagnosis (got diagnosed last month) i was hospitalized for a week because i couldnāt function. i also obsess over my sexuality and nothing i pick for me ever feels quite right. i recently started a relationship with someone whoās trans, so maybe thatās why? does anyone else go through this? my brain tries to convince me that i do this to myself and that im making it all up. but who would want to feel this way? uggghhh
Hi I am new here. Looking for a friend with the same ocd relations to me. Iāve been struggling with checking OCD for a while now. It includes things like checking my social media feed because I am scared I shared something inappropriate, and even rereading messages, emails, or anything I write thinking I said something bad. Does anyone else struggle with this? Itās became part of my life now and i hate it
