Has anyone else had this type of obsessions that they will develope schizophrenia? It is causing me so much distress lately. Its caused me to have the thought of, "what if I think the TV is talking to me?" Or, "What if I see people as animals, and can't stop?" It has caused so much anxiety that I feel like crying. Can someone else share if they have ever gone through this, please.
I have the exact same fear! I'm studying psychology right now, and going over types of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia has been super triggering for me as well. Hoping that ERP and treatment will help.
I understand. When I was studying the disorders, this also triggered me. The one rule they say in psychology is NEVER self-diagnose yourself. I hope you are able to get through this. I am rooting for you!

Yes I definitely have when I was first diagnosed, one of the most helpful things my psychiatrist told me is if you had it you wouldn't be asking if you had schizophrenia because people with undiagnosed schizophrenia a lot of times don't know they have it or think what they are seeing hearing believing is legitimately real. Idon't have schizophrenia. I don't have schizophrenia but have been through psychosis a couple of times. I have had hallucinations and I knew they were hallucinations because it was psychosis not schizophrenia. My therapist told me that if it starts with what if then it's OCD. If the tvs talking to you your going to know it your not gonna wonder about if it did or didn't happen. When I had my hallucinations I never once thought I might've saw a shadow person which was one of my hallucinations, I saw shadow people walking around my house, I knew I saw the hallucination.

Currently dealing with this theme now. It sucks! Harm OCD was my main theme and now itās kind of quietā¦ but now this one is raging. Itās so hard because I am so hyperaware to my senses. Constantly checking. Iām trying to stop bc itās a compulsion. It doesnāt matter how much reassurance I get from anyone, even my therapist. We went through the DSM. Iāve taken online tests. For ERP Iāve watched documentaries and movies, and clearly I donāt have it. I know logically I donāt have it, but the thoughts and feelings feel so real. I will tell my therapist ābut sometimes I donāt know if my thoughts are voices.. what if they are?ā And that I notice stuff in my peripheral vision and think I see things. She told me that with psychosis and schizophrenia thereās no probably about it. You would definitely hear voices and see things. You donāt go in and out of the delusions. You wouldnāt doubt and question. And you wouldnāt be scared of the possibility. So the truth is, the fact youāre scared of it, proves youāre very aware and hooked on an obsessional fear.
Thank you for sharing. It does mean a lot. We will get through this together one day at a time. Its literally hanging on the Promises that God has given us. The scripture that has helped me lately is Isaiah 43:2, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, James 4:7-8
@Hopeful 21 Amen šš» He walks with us and promises us peace when we keep our mind stayed on Him. Isaiah 26:3 It is hard to keep your mind stayed on Him when itās full of obsessional fears, but like you said, one day at a time. Iām here anytime you need to talk, support, or prayer!!
Mine is Similar il Remember im Doing Like 3 or 4 Tests For making Sure i Dont have That Condition The Main Trigger For Me is Chronic Tinnitus and discoloration And i tghought i Was Actuly Mental And People Know that But Aint Telling me i Was Scared To Look Faces On TV And Any Screens Becuz im Scared That They Suddenly Gonna Start Talking With Me and im Gonna Go Crazy Even More i Still Carry That Fear And Stress
