i woke up with my heart racing this morning. i feel like the Lord wouldn’t treat me that way. i feel guilty and i feel like i just keep messing up at every step in my walk w the Lord. i literally just woke up feeling bad. i hadn’t even done anything. i had just opened my eyes!! i’m glad i got called into work so i can do something to take my mind off of the thoughts.
Oh dear…. I’m so happy to see a fellow Christian on this app! Sorry your ocd makes you feel that way, but that’s the devil using your mind to try and destroy you. But he will never succeed. God is with you, God is in you and God will save you! Praying for you!!!

Aw Toni, that really sucks. I know what it's like to have OCD hit you from literally the moment you wake up! It's so upsetting. Hope today goes okay. Big virtual hug to you. I know it's so distressing struggling with themes around God and religion. I have experienced that too. Please know that you are not alone and that you can find relief and peace from this through ERP treatment! It has helped me a ton.
@Andrea Wells thank you! it’s very very distressing. from a young age, i’ve been an overthinker. so sometimes im like “im overthinking” but then “what if you’re not thinking enough!!!!?!?! what if you’re ignoring God?!?!”
@toni2137 If you have not already gotten details on how much it would actually cost I would encourage you to do so. You may be surprised. Working with a therapist with expertise on anxieties and intrusive thoughts will help you to take on this challenge. OCD likes to latch on to those things that we value most. The chase after certainty takes us down a rabbit hole. Try giving yourself the same Grace God gives you while accepting the uncertainty. You can start the acceptance process by allowing your thoughts to be present while continuing with your day. It will be uncomfortable but the longer you stick with it the more likely that discomfort will ease.

@Monica Jordan I haven’t done treatment just because my insurance is so expensive for therapeutic services :(( i would love to do treatment though
@toni2137 - Have you done a free 15 minute intake call with NOCD to check insurance? I work on the intake team here and I have had many people call in and say that their insurance doesn't cover therapy or there are high out of pocket costs with their plan, only to discover that they have much better coverage than expected! It's worth checking to be sure.
@Andrea Wells i actually have. it’s about $150 with my insurance per session, so i couldn’t do or like $90 a week

Your decision to engage and be present with something outside of your thoughts was good. You sent the message to your brain that something else was more important. It's a powerful choice to notice your thoughts, and then keep moving. Practice noticing them without judgment. Your fear and anxiety (OCD)need you to be emotionally invested for it to stay strong. When you notice and keep moving, you begin to weaken the grip. It takes time. It's not always easy. But it works! Keep moving. You are what God says you are!

my ocd has really been taking its toll on me lately. i feel completely unloved by God. i use to feel it, but now i just kinda feel a hole. i talk to Him everyday, and read devotionals. i spend time with Him. i just can’t feel Him. i know a relationship with God isn’t based on feelings, but on faith. i guess my faith is running a bit low. i’m just tired and my thoughts get worse. it’s like a roller coaster.
So I’m not sure how many/if any of you are Christians, but I’m assuming this can still make sense to some of you. This morning has been rough. I’m constantly thinking, “am I saved? Have I never been saved and I’m tricking myself into thinking I am? When I’m listening to Christian music am I doing for the right reasons? Is it too late for me?”. Things I know the truthful answers to but yet I still think these thoughts. I don’t understand why. Why do I constantly think about these “what if”’s? My heart always feels so heavy and I feel as if I need to talk to God right then and there to make it stop and go away. But then am I talking to the Lord for the wrong reasons? And the cycle repeats. Thankfully, day one of my therapy is tonight and I’m hoping to find at least a little clarity on this stuff. I’ve had OCD for 7 years and I don’t even know how it works. Any advice?
Hey all. I need help. I am sitting on my bathroom floor freaking out and convinced that all my work towards getting better has gone out the window. I am so scared of the “bad guy” getting me all the time. I constantly feel like I have to prove to God that I don’t mean these awful feelings and thoughts that I have about the bad guy. I’ve had trouble sleeping tonight, going in and out of consciousness, all while dealing with bad thoughts going in and out of my head. Finally I woke up and am flooded with “you have so many thoughts and feeling that you let slide while you were trying to sleep. You had thoughts that you accepted the bad guy and you didn’t dispute them before you tried to move on. You have so much to answer for.” So now I’m sitting here in my bathroom floor hysterically crying and begging God to believe me when I say I don’t any of these thoughts or feelings… please someone help
