Certainty
Me realizing that the correct answer for certainty is no answer because it does not exist in OCD/anxiety. Certainty is holding you down and holding you back. Let go and accept the uncertainty.

After years of trying to find it I find out that it can’t be found😫🙌
@elliss2 It’s all about control. We have to let it go because we cannot control it. I hope you are doing well and know that you’re not alone!
But it’s so hard when You panic 🥺 but u re right. I am so into this bc i could Not accept the thoughts for 1 month straight. Thats why i am now in a Loop. I Need to try to accept but it’s so hard bc of so Horrible thoughts :(
@Lara2404 With your panic.. breath in sit there few a few minutes and tell yourself “I am anxious however this won’t last forever”. Your anxiety may subside and then you can use the skills you learn to let that thought flow.

@Lara2404 It’s a journey. I am not fully recovered but I am confident I will get there. I’ve been meeting with a NOCD therapist for some time now. She is amazing and always listens and extends great advice. So if you don’t already you should try it. OCD is just altered thought patterns that we need to change up. You can do it!!!

@13rianna Yes i am afraid to Jump in front of a train (bc it’s near the home). And then the panic Starts because i don’t want to do this and i think about how bad this for my lovely Family is and and and. It’s a Loop, a horror Loop. And since this week i try to ERP. Just go to the railway Track and See that i don’t want to do this and it’s just a scary thought which cause panic in me (which I think it’s not false)
But how do I let go
@Lara2404 Stop giving your thoughts energy. If I have a thought I’m like okay. It is what it is. We have to teach our brains we are not in danger. As soon as you give a thought meaning or energy that’s when we ruminate and try to find certainty. If you like donuts and you think of a donut you let that thought flow away. If you don’t like chocolate iced donuts you let that thought flow away. If you have an intrusive thought let it flow away. Let it go.
I also have a therapist and she also says, eberytime the thought comes just do something which does Not Focus on the thought. But it’s Hard really Hard
@Lara2404 Combining both answers in one comment lol. So you don’t want to jump in front of the train but your thoughts tell you that you might. You are stuck in the loop trying to find the answer of if you will or not and there is no answer. For erp, your therapist said to go to the tracks but you’re not even sure when the train is coming. Recently I’ve been telling myself that “I get to”. For example, “I get to work, I get to drive, I get to cook, I get to be brave enough to face my OCD and challenge it (and do ERP)” so if you have the thought try saying “I get to go to the tracks and participate in my ERP challenge. Yes it is scary, but I am brave and I am going to do this because I get to. “ with your family tell yourself “I get to be here with them”. It may change your perspective. We waste time trying to find the answer that doesn’t exist because we cannot tell the future so instead of fighting your thoughts you just have to say “ok” and accept the uncertainty. Repetition is what gets you through it.
@13rianna Thank You. But what you mean by the „i get to“ Part? Why should it Change my perspective ?
@Lara2404 For me it reminds me of all of the opportunities I have because I am here. It helps me stop the negative thinking and fires up the things I’m grateful for.
