According to google: "Succession splash Also known as a gastric splash, this is a sloshing sound that can be heard when you move your stomach quickly while drinking water on an empty stomach. It's caused by the presence of gas and fluid in your stomach, and you can hear it without a stethoscope. When you push your stomach out, it sounds like something is filling with fluid, and when you let your breath out, it gurgles."
I listen way too closely to everything my body does, because of OCD. I have been exactly here before and I’ll tell you this is something you should try accepting. Sit with the uncertainty as best you can. Reach out if you need anything
@redbud it’s super hard- how do i stop listening to bodily sounds and critiquing my compulsions as “wrong” if i hear one of those noises
@redbud i know this is weird but if i feel something in my butt i assume i farted even when i didn’t and then i have to restart
@Anonymous7779 Don’t try and stop listening. Let yourself listen and try to stop resisting the thoughts that come up. Listening is the obsession. You need to stop the compulsions that come after you notice your stomach make a sound. Do you know what some are?
@redbud some of what?
@Anonymous7779 Your compulsions that come up when you notice the stomach sounds
@redbud it’s with drinking water- if i hear sounds in my throat/stomach while drinking water or after it, or if i hear a burp go down my throat/stomach if that makes sense, then i have to start all over again and drink the water again.
@Anonymous7779 That makes sense. Maybe try drinking water until you hear the sound and then see how long you can resist drinking more
@redbud the issue is if i hear the sound i need to start again. the compulsion is so hard and elaborate that when i try to fix it it takes hours. i had to stop for the night because i don’t feel like going insane tonight.
Our bodies make all kind of noises if we’re really listening. Sometimes we listen too closely if we’re anxious.

Here is what I say to people: I wish I could make it stop. I really do. I also wish I could stop tinnitus. What is tinnitus, you may ask? Well, have you ever gone to a loud concert and after it had a ringing in your ears. Or, in movies when a loud explosion hears, first it is often muffled, and then there is a very loud ringing sound. Well, I have hear that sound for over 30 years. Turns out the medications I took as a kid for allergies and all the antibiotics I was on for Strep had a side effect for some people - tinnitus - that sound that I have heard every decade, year, month, day, hour, and second, for the past 30 years. I have learned to live with it. As I type this, it is REALLY loud, because I am paying attention to it. But, in a few minutes it will fade into the background, and, while I will hear it, I will not pay much attention to it, and therefore I will go on with my night. I will listen to music, practice my story for the MOTH radio hour, and work out. I will clean up the kitchen and load the dishwasher, and I will eventually get ready for bed. I will go to bed hearing that sound, and fall asleep for a few hours until tomorrow morning when I start the day all over again. I cannot make the sound stop. There is nothing to do for it - no surgery or medication. Just learning to live with it, and that is what I have done. It is the thing that I hate the most in my life, and, if granted three wishes, it would be the first thing to change. For now, as I have for 30 years, I will live with it, and I will ask you to live with your noises in your head - the thoughts, the images, and the urges, and we will practice together accepting that things are not always as we want them, but we can handle that. We got this.
Im taking Gaviscon but i feel weird and im afraid its actually not good for me. Maybe its not good that im keep reeding about why its not helping, i read that maybe i have another problem not acid reflux. I think that cause I dont have the acid taste in my mouth, not even the heartburn, its just a really annoying cough that doesnt stop and throat soreness, and sometimes chest pressure. It makes me feel anxious to a point that it worseness my symptoms, i started to feel weak and like theres a huge problem... I only startes taking Gaviscon yesterday, i took 3 times but the cough its still there and I read that if it doesnt gets better maybe i dont have acid reflux. I dont want to think about this but the symptoms make me so scared
