POCD distress
So if p’s can also experience distress and disturbance than how am I different? I’m just really scared because I heard that from an actual expert and it freaked me out.

Did your therapist say that or did you hear or read that online? I do not know how to answer this because it is a simple question that have a complex answer. I think that the key is where the distress is coming from. Actual pee dos know that they are one, and the distress comes from not being able to follow through the thoughts and urges that they have. They can have distress about being one and what would happen if people found out, but again the key is that they know they are one. The attraction for them is really no different than an adult being attracted to another adult, or a teenager being attracted to another teenager. Some of them say that they do not want to hurt kids, but they know that they are one. The thoughts and urges are not easy for them to control. I have talked to therapist and psychologists that work with ocd and that do not. I told them how I am sacred of being one due to finding a teenager pretty and how I seen a picture online(nothing inappropriate of course) and thought they were good looking. That lead to anxiety and rumination. The psychologist that works with OCD said how that is not peedo and it is normal for people to want to look at pretty people(regardless if it a child or adult) because the human brain is wired to want to look at pretty people and things. The psychologist that does not work with ocd said that if they thought I was one we would be having a different conversation.

this. and POCD, is false attractions/arousals combined with anxiety. While pedophiles, have strong attractions.

@HOY The weird or confusing part is many times it does not feel like false attraction or false arousal. Many times I did not feel the anxiety about the attraction or arousal until after the fact. Like the thoughts would come as being positive or enjoyable, after would be hit with the anxiety and stress. Then I would question if this is still ocd and question what they says what type of person I am.

@Anna,hi! Yeah I have experienced exactly that. To answer your longer post if I notice a teen with adult features it happens to me too, and then I try to prove that I’m not which leads to continuously going back then besting myself up or getting defensive because of the groinal response.

Happens to me too, I experience brain fog cause of how much I think about this. the advice I learn from here is to let everything come and go and not fight it

I am sorry for posting too much. However, have you seen the show called the patient? It is about a serial killer that finds a psychologist because they want help. The patient does have stress and anxiety about the strong urges and thoughts about killing people, however he knows that he is a murder regardless of the anxiety. That is like for peedos, they know they are one regardless of the distress they might feel. Oh I want to add this article about pocd.
