Signs From God

Recently I’ve come back to God, specially Christianity. I prayed and wrote to God for a sign concerning a mistake I made, and put within this letter for him to show me a yellow car if everything is going to be ok. Kid you not, same day I see a yellow truck parked while driving. I believe I was answered but my mind keeps nagging me I wasn’t. Do you think this is the devil and ocd trying to downplay what I prayed and wrote to God for? I know you shouldn’t ask for signs and wonders, but I desperately needed one.

Definitely ocd and the devil I’ve had this and ended up asking God for signs all the time because my ocd wanted more reassurance

@emixz Have you ever seen those TikTok videos were people ask for signs and it ends up being the most specific thing ever like. I use to envious and jealous of them. Now, I’m like good for them but I think unfortunately it has caused people to feel left out and more anxious. I think my signs today were really specific as other things happened. But I’m not gonna make this habit, I’m not that app anymore too.

@Sparklefly TikTok is the worst honestly it drives me insane but I stopped asking God for signs because I was mindful of it and I chose to trust God

All - I wrote a book published last year called Waging War Against OCD - A Christian Approach to Victory. I discuss how to decipher thoughts from God vs thoughts from OCD. I think you may find it helpful. I think the most helpful thing regarding this specific issue is understanding how amazing God’s grace is. If we miss a sign or do t miss a sign, we can be at peace because He is a tender and kind Father who is patient with us.

Haha if you look for yellow cars you will start to notice them when you never did before. Your ocd can never be reassured so you are wasting your time. Unfortunately God also knows ocd can never get enough reassurance so showing you a yellow car would be pointless. Let me guess you made a mistake and are afraid you are an unredeemable bad person? Why don’t you try a new approach and use logic to get out of this ocd loop instead of Magical thinking.

@Malisimo I disagree. Yellow cars are not common where I am. I feel fine with this answer. Sometimes answer are given, sometimes not. This is first time something like this has ever been answered for me. A lot of other things happened today which solidified this.

religious ocd

I know this is a problem God this is the biggest problem ever. my ocd got worst. praying hasn't helped, and its like why when I think my brain thinks of all the worst things you could imagine GOD why, and I'm honestly losing myself. I cant sleep without my brain imagining and saying the worst and DISGUSTING and HORRIBL things I could imagine why when will I be okay? I cant even write this without my intrusive thoughts taking over, twisting things, and making me lost. I just want to live in peace.

Signs, the universe, manifesting, oh my!

I grew up very Catholic, but maybe that doesn’t matter here. How can I untangle from the thought that every coincidence is a “sign” from god or the universe? This has latched onto so many different areas of my life and now it’s on my daughters health/safety. Reading a story and there is a dead kid in it—must be a sign!! Getting a random name in my head and it’s someone who died—a sign of the worst to come!! Signs, jinxing, manifesting, etc. were always reinforced when I was growing up (and today in some cases too)—“it must be a sign!” Any ideas on how I can untangle from this?
