Regulating nervous system with a crush

I have a huge crush on this guy. I thought he was super cute first time we met and we’d always exchange smiles whenever we saw each other. Fast forward to a month of the semester, and he ends up approaching me. We have a great convo and he’s super smiley and cutesy. And that happens a few more times too. We even did a cute gentle handshake before departing ways once ( his hands are sooo soft) The other day I saw him and started a convo. I ended up asking to hangout and he immediately says yes and whips his phone out so I can give him my number. I WAS SO HAPPY. We have briefly texted. I asked him to get froyo through text over 24 hours ago and he hasn’t responded 😭😭 ik people get busy… how can I not let my OCD spiral on this one?? I told myself I refuse to double text. The ball is in his court… but ugh it’s hard not to ruminate

I know it’s hard especially in this day and age where everyone is always on their phone. From someone who had serious dating anxiety, maybe he’s just really nervous and afraid to text back because he himself is ruminating thoughts? Playing devils advocate

@LittleRobbin Yeah I just assumed that he was busy. I have a very anxious brain so is hard for me to let things like this go! Can I ask, was your response time to someone you’re interested in affected by your dating anxiety?

@AutumnCandle Hey @autumncandle So I am actually happily married now to my husband 6 years yesterday. But our story barely got off the ground because of my anxiety about dating. We knew each other from high school but were never friends - until flash forward us at 24 and reconnected. Our first “date” he was coming to pick me up and I bailed last minute when he was in his way over because I was so anxious I made myself sick. So needless to say, I almost didn’t get my happy ever after. Luckily my husband is a truly great guy and loves me despite all my anxiety and newly diagnosed OCD. And honestly , if someone can’t then that’s there problem! someone is out there for you! your story is only beginning

yeah I deeply relate to this. I fell in love with someone and let’s just say our friendship has been rather tumultuous. It seemed like we were headed down the path of eventually dating, then she realized she wasn’t ready and told me she just wanted to be friends, etc. We had a conversation about this a month ago to the day, and she said she would text me the next day. Well I haven’t heard anything from her. I have been kind of really depressed and her and her ex recently followed each other again on spotify so that really did not help and I really have no idea why she hasn’t messaged me. But I feel like I just have to trust that she will text me when she it is right for her. Idk sorry to dump all of my shit but all that to say you are not alone.
