13 days and still feel like my anxiety and like little panic attacks ?
I haven’t personally gone through this, but I just wanted to say 13 days is something to be really proud of. ❤️ Quitting two substances at the same time is a huge adjustment, and I can imagine how discouraging it feels to still be dealing with anxiety and panic when you’re working so hard to feel better. Please don’t let a difficult day convince you that those 13 days don’t matter. If you haven’t already, there are resources where you can actually talk to people who understand substance use and withdrawal. SAMHSA has a free, confidential helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357) that can connect you with treatment and support, and for the nicotine side, 1-800-QUIT-NOW has free quit coaches. And definitely don’t feel like you have to white-knuckle all of this by yourself. Reaching out for extra support doesn’t take anything away from what you’ve already accomplished. I’m rooting for you and I hope you keep going. ❤️
I stopped smoking weed about 3 weeks ago now after having a panic attack that made my health ocd awareness of my own body 10x worse. I thought that it would magically make everything better because I’m off of something that was quieting the noise, but instead what it has done has brought so many things to the surface that I have not had to deal with or have been able to ignore before. I myself am having depersonalization/derealization, visual disturbances, crazy dreams, feeling “off” and my thoughts are much harder to manage and quiet. At times I even feel like I’m going crazy. I think it’s important to know that when your body gets so used to something, even if the initial withdrawal symptoms go away, your brain is rewiring itself and learning to work normally without the substances that otherwise created the false sense of normalcy. Be patient, and be kind to yourself because there is “the other side” and you will eventually make it there in your own time. And I will be there beside you, and so many others will be too, even if we don’t know or see it. Maybe having that sense of community can help
