anyone partake?
i was wondering if we had any “gardeners” on here, if you know what i mean lol. 🍃💨 and if so, does it help with your ocd or other mental/physical health issues, and how?

No, it makes me anxious and amps up my compulsions personally- and is known slows down stomach gastric emptying(so doesn’t work for my health conditions). But if it helps you, it helps you so no judgement here. I think ERP is where we can truly make a difference and help rewire neuropathies and patterns, whether as smoking may be useful to cope for some people. Coping is okay, I think it’s just worthwhile to do the hard things and change behaviors and patterns.
@savvysavs i totally agree. i definitely garden, probably more than i should lol. but i personally think it’s really important you don’t use it as your main treatment. (for mental health. i’m not sure how well it works for treating physical health.)
Nooooo it makes me so paranoid. I think I actually have ocd about thinking I’m high when I’m not. Does anyone else ever experience this? It kind of reminds me of panicking so it’s not pleasant. Especially if I smell it or am around someone partaking
@FloW omg i definitely feel high sometimes when i KNOW IM NOTTTT! for me it’s just a trippy feeling and makes me confused. but i don’t panic for the most part! i’m sorry this is your experience though, paranoia SUCKS, and it’s crazy what our brains can convince us of.
@Kay101 YESS I think that being high or under the influence can mimic panic or dissociation so they are just very close to eachother feeling wise. I’m glad that you don’t panic tho that’s great!!
@FloW i’m grateful that i don’t really panic (not from gardening at least) but i will say, sometimes it can make my heart rate jump a little which can sometimes trigger my health anxiety. and then i start thinking im gonna have a heart attack. 😭🙏🏽
🙋♀️🙋♀️ lol I think it depends. Sometimes it can be really helpful because it can distract you from a million ruminating thoughts all at once, but sometimes it can make it worse tbh. I feel like this really depends on person to person and specific details and what not. As for PHYSICAL health, I have several chronic health disorders and it can be really helpful in reducing/taking my mind off the pain. My potential hot take tho is if you’re *partaking* just to feel better, physically or mentally, you probably should be actually addressing the root problem instead of just shoving it away and trying to drown it out. I know several people who have just become so dependant and it’s like, girl, get a grip and get some help babe. All due respect ofc
@sparrowsR12 yes, i can agree! becoming highly dependent on a substance can be more dangerous than beneficial for mental AND physical health. if you partake to ease your symptoms in between treatments, that’s absolutely okay! it’s when you use it as your ONLY TREATMENT is when it starts to become an issue.
@Kay101 Yes 100%. Also this is relating to your other post but if you’re still looking for people to chat with or potential friends, lmkkkk
@sparrowsR12 omg of course!! lmk the best place to reach you! i’m definitely still looking for friends 😭
@Kay101 Do you think Instagram?? Also sorry this reply was freakishly fast I just got the notification and clicked on it lol
@sparrowsR12 i swear every comment/post i mention IG in gets like shadow banned or something, idk maybe im nuts lol. so just to be sure you got my username it’s “kaaybaabe”
My ex use to have me garden to help me sleep when my ocd was going crazy🤣 It did help but I don’t anymore. I found smoking to help me but the edible kind was a nightmare.
@One_moment_at_a_time omg really?? maybe i’m just getting extremely low quality ones, but i swear every time i’ve ever taken an edible i felt NOTHING!!😭
@Kay101 Loll it was like 100mg which is wayyy more than I was smoking at the time. And even then I didn’t smoke often
Unfortunately it puts me in full blown panic and ramps everything up for me. I hear it can help others though!
i used to garden for 10 years (and still do occasionally, though it’s far and few between now). i started way too young, still in my early teens and well before i had any diagnosis. it helped me ease my thoughts for a long time— especially during a particularly bad stint when i was going through a court case against a stalker and was convinced i’d get killed if i so much as left my bedroom. for years it helped manage my overwhelming anxiety, served as a great sleep aid, and helped get my eating back on track when i was riddled with too much panic and anxiety to have an appetite. in january of this year, i had my first truly negative experience with gardening after taking & inhaling wayyyy too much. i convinced myself i’d die, had a major panic attack, and almost called an ambulance for myself. since then, i really only feel anxious when i’ve tried, i think largely because my ocd has now convinced me that i’ll never be able to garden again without having a panic attack (which so far, has been true, unless i’m doing it with my partner). all of this is to say, it truly can help so much, in so many facets, especially with pain relief and anxiety. be aware, though, that ocd will still do its thing, and even as a long term user, my thoughts have gotten the better of me despite the help the plant brings. listen to your body and take things slow!
Not anymore. It makes me super paranoid and triggered OCD thoughts
Used to love to garden. Now it just makes me panicked and paranoid.
@I hate this it can really frickin suck when mental health ruins something we once enjoyed doing. but i’m glad you’re putting your health first!
I find it makes my anxiety so much worse.
