I feel like I have the WORST Intrusive thoughts in the world. Nobody has the thoughts I do
I neither intend to reassure you or invalidate your experience with this comment, but I will say I think many of us feel the same way about our own intrusive thoughts. I suspect *a lot* of us think we’re secretly the most vile, despicable, monsters ever to walk the earth. OCD is a wild thing to live with.
I've heard a lot of people say their thoughts/ their ocd is the "worst." Hmmmm makes me wonder because not all of you can be right- there's only one spot! :P Lol jkk. But I don't want you to judge your thoughts because they don't exist in reality. For example, having a thought about winning the lottery is no more important than having a harm thought. Because both thoughts aren't real and they are a figment of our imagination. You can even make a light of it and just say how you have a really creative mind lol.
Also if it helps you feel less alone, there was a time I also thought that I was a terrible human for having repetitive intrusive thoughts that I thought were horrendous. I felt like no one else had these taboo/harm thoughts (I was wrong). I didn't know I had Ocd at the time and when I finally got my diagnosis, that explained so much! The taboo support groups at NOCD are full of people who share their taboo intrusive thoughts. Helps make people feel less alone.
@Love1another<3 This sorta thought process actually made it worse for me which was actually the reason for this post lol
@Chente_g Oh I’m so sorry to hear that :o Which part made it worse? Maybe I can try to explain it a way that’s more helpful for you
@Love1another<3 I’ve been trying and also hearing podcasts about the separation between self and mind sorta like how we are not our mind we cannot control our thoughts emotions etc and it’s honestly been working until I had a thought “ well what if my mind is evil “ which led me down a path of what ifs including me being schizophrenia/ or under psychosis I kinda spiraled a bit still anxious thinking about it
@Chente_g I’m proud of you for trying :) That’s a huge step by itself! And you’re so right that Ocd always tries to find new loopholes to latch onto and make you distressed. Ocd always comes up with another “what if.” I’ll let you know that the fear of psychosis and schizophrenia are super common Ocd themes. As a fun facts: people who are in psychosis don’t have the ability to question if they are in psychosis or not- so you being able to question that is another clue to me that you’re just suffering from OCD. The great news is that you can be helped with ERP therapy and all these fears can greatly diminish. ERP is very hard work but it’s 100% worth it! It will help you to feel normal again and even expand your life
@Love1another<3 that actually did help a bit , I like you thanks for the comments (:
@Chente_g Aw I’m so glad I could help you! That makes me happy :D Keep going you got this
You might be surprised!
@gilltea Are we about to have an intrusive thought battle ? Lol
@Chente_g Beyblade let it rip!
Believe some people have like me😂
U can share it feel free
I'm gonna second these people - I'm not trying to give you reassurance, but you'd actually be surprised to have many people could probably relate.
Thank you for all the comments I’m not looking for reassurance, just venting this morning has been rough
Ah you must be a fellow suffer of Existential OCD. I often hear this from our crowd haha but everyone thinks their OCD subtype is the worse.
@RayMoe I’ve had every theme lol I theme switch quite often
@Chente_g I actually view theme switching as a bit of luck. It shows me that it's not about the theme and more about the OCD. The onlt problem is every time I get a new theme I think this theme is the end all be all haha I hope you feel better soon!
