Obsessions about cultural evils

i can definitely relate with the normalization of sexualizing almost everything it seems sometimes!!! Drives me crazy! or politics will really get my goat sometimes. this quote makes me feel a little better sometimes: “it is no measure of health to be well adjusted in a profoundly sick society” -Jiddu Krishnamurti and there are plenty of people who want to solve homelessness, domestic violence, oversexualization, war. Drowning in our smallness compared to evil systems does not help. It actually hurts us too. It is okay to mourn. Feel your feelings and ask “what do I need right now?” then when you feel a bit better and see some hope, you can ask “what can I do about it?” Self care is revolution!! building community is revolution!! I like to consider my skills and what I can offer the world. I suspect you might also feel sometimes like just being a “good” person isn’t enough to tackle these systems of oppression in place. I am proud of you and your desire to do more!!! take care of yourself so that you can volunteer at a kitchen, or donate your extra things, or write cards or spend time in a nursing home!! or whatever your personal skills are :) The powers that be benefit when we are sad, in our rooms, isolated and longing. (they can market everything to us on ticktok or IG and make us feel that we NEED x,y,z from amazon when we are feeling lack)

I am excited to volunteer for some campaigns this year as the midterm elections come around. It is quite inspiring and reassuring to meet and advocate for good people Videos of James Talarico speaking heal my heart also, specifically with the sexualization. I relate so much. It can feel super un-powering. reality is, after i gave an angry look back to the guy fully staring at me for too long in the post office, he left me alone! and more powerful: I felt that i was able to do something about it. Confidence and self assurance is huge in this for me. When I trust myself to show up for myself in moments, whether it’s rolling my eyes at a stupid comment or being like “that’s really stupid” to a sexist joke, it makes a difference! Working out has made me feel strong. Getting to know myself has been really inspiring and anxiety relieving. Sounds cheesy but if you know who you are so confidently, no one can tell you who you are (even your anxiety )
