I can’t afford any therapy or NOCD. I can’t work due to my ocd and I have no insurance. I have no monthly income. My family who I live with say I don’t need therapy so they don’t want to pay. Plus they can’t afford it either. Im stuck.
I am in the same boat I used to have therapy though and got to conquerer status and my ocd has gone down a lot and honestly my best advice is doing ERP by yourself if you don’t know what that is it’s exposure therapy where you go towards your intrusive thoughts and make activities that expose you to them little by little and just take baby steps also having a designated saying that you can say to help yourself remember that OCD thoughts aren’t real thoughts they aren’t your real values so for me when ocd says something I say things like “that’s not real” “love that for me” “maybe or maybe not” (there are tons of sayings) and I sit with that discomfort and just keep reminding myself it’s not real or I don’t need to do that depending on what type of ocd you have also if you have any support I know there are discords for it somewhere you can just rant about your ocd and also you could write down your thoughts that helps me and also realize there’s a lot of people struggling with the exact same or similar thoughts also catching the compulsions is big especially if they are mental compulsions like if you’re mind tells you “something bad is gonna happen to your family member” instead of saying “no it’s not” and getting scared or doing a physical activity to soothe it instead say “maybe it will maybe it won’t” or “that’s not real” and sit with it also for erp you can definitely look stuff up on google or have ai make you some exposures but they are pretty easy to come up with I have harm ocd so I look at like movies of serial killers or I’ll read an article on it or look at pictures of knives just start slow!

But yea i realized after several months that my therapist just kept saying the same thing do erp and do response prevention messages and once you get in the grove of that hopefully you’ll be getting some relief as long as you don’t do compulsions

@zephyranthesgp01 Yes exactly it’s like what are we supposed to do when we want help but can’t! I guess I’m lucky in a way I have a really supportive discord community of friends which helps me. I wonder if there is a ocd discord community as well?
