Hi hi, my therapist recommended i look into medication options to help with my treatment. i want to try meds, but im a little weary after an evil zoloft experience,, though that could just be that zoloft is generally evil lol. what are your guy’s experiences (good or bad) w meds/what did you take? i know they aren’t a sole solution but im looking for all the help i can get. thank you!!!
I definitely agree zoloft is the fucking worst. it fucked me up pretty bad. I take 30 mg of prozac now and its honestly a life saver. idk if my recovery was more a product of time or if the prozac had that profound of an effect but since ive been taking it my ocd has improved drastically. my ocd is nowhere near the hell it used to be. im doing so much better on it and the side effects are minimal. it makes me tired but its helped me fix my sleep schedule so thats more of a positive. the only real negative side effect is it killed my appetite and ive lost a lot of weight but ive never had a great appetite to begin with. other than that it's been great. its also great cause if you miss a dose it doesn't make you feel sick. highly recommend.
I was taking the generic of zoloft. It was called setraline. I was on that on and off for about 25 years or so. I just started taking prozac 20 mg. I'm feeling pretty good. Once the side effect pass the first week or so you start to feel better. Your body needs time to get used to the medication. I felt setraline was not working anymore for me so I figured inwoukd try prozac. My phychitrist said prozac is great for OCD. He also said zoloft is good as well, but I wamtedto switch to see. So far so good. One day at a time
I am on Prozac 30mg (3 10mg capsules) once a day. They say with Prozac you need 60-80 which 80 is the max, but everyone has their own response. I definitely think for me the 30 reduces the intensity but doesn’t make me forget the anxiety, which is very helpful with ERP to learn how to overcome the anxiety and distress. It has definitely helped with my thoughts and the intensity. Side effects, it makes me yawn/tired, but other times it feels like insomnia, but some have more of one than the other. I did have some palpitations but it has now passed and I feel a lot more comfortable with it. I haven’t tried any other medications, but it has definitely helped. You could ask about one called clomipramine which was the go to medication for OCD. Not sure how often it is prescribed now, but something to look into. Hope this helps!
In addition to 150mg of Zoloft, I take 60mg of Buspar and 2400mg of Gabapentin. The Buspar and Gabapentin help calm my anxiety and irritability I experience when something isn’t “just right.” Years ago I was on 20mg of Prozac which I responded well to (although I did experience weight loss and hair loss. My hair didn’t fall out, it just sort of stopped growing and broke off). My psychiatrist felt that Zoloft was “newer and more effective” than Prozac. I don’t see myself ever getting off medication, because once I got in it, I realized how terrible I felt without it.
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. Hi everyone, I’m 23 and have been on Zoloft since I was 16. For the past couple months I’ve been having panic attacks more and I’m sick of feeling like a zombie everyday. My boyfriend said I’m very sad and unhappy then when I first met him 2 years ago…. He thinks it’s the medicine. Throughout the years I have upped and lowered my medication, but now, I feel as though it’s not helping. Either it was too much where I didn’t feel emotions at all like very scary stuff or it wasn’t enough to help me. I was given 5mg of Lexapro to try…. I’m scared to take it. All I know is how Zoloft is. I don’t want to go crazy on it, be allergic to it, etc. I feel like I’m going to trip myself out when I take it and not actually feel the difference. I could really use some positive feedback I really just want to be a normal human😭
For starters I was on this medicine before i remember the first few weeks were very scary and debilitating. I don’t remember why I stopped taking it , it was about 7 months ago. but I just recently started back because my ocd and anxiety has been off the chain. I keep having bad thoughts about the side affects and I’m terrified like “ what if I have a seizure” can anybody share an experience? Anyone on Zoloft here. Thanks !
