I’m starting on Wednesday most likely. But I’m going away for Fourth of July this weekend and I wanna prepare myself for any side effects. Thank you. I hope my anxiety won’t be any more heightened :/ I won’t drink tho
When I first started out the only thing was troubles with staying asleep/ waking up in the middle of the night. Other than that it was so amazing for my ocd!! I just recommend to ask to start at the lowest dose and slowly increase to minimize/ reduce side effects. Wish you the best!!
@AAnonymous17 What amount were you on consistently? I was hoping to try and stay on the lowest which I think is 10mg

@Anonymous So when I first started it, it was 20mg, then bumped to 40mg after a month. While I felt amazing, the sleep getting affected was awful. So I swapped to lexapro, and I felt even worse. So I just switched back to Prozac, because I know it helped so much, only almost a few weeks ago. I’m only at 10mg to slowly increase. I’m hoping to get back up to at least 40mg. So I can’t really say. Everyone’s different tho, maybe 10mg will be enough for you!
Everyone is different. some people have none, some get all. I never had ANY on prozac. Its more of a "downer" when it comes to SSRIs. the more common one to get ammped up anxiety is zoloft ( which i am on) and honestly, after the first dose, i imagine that might be what heroine feels like because i was SOOOOO CALM> my brain NEEDED the seritonin. Try not to let anticipatory anxiety bite you. take some benadryl with you ( if you don't have a fast acting panic killer like klonipin or something) taking some benadryl will calm you down if needed in a pinch Enjoy your trip and take comfort that your happy candy will be doing its work in your brain.
I didn't realized Prozac had side effects until I went off (but I did have to go back on, FYI). I found that I am much more emotionally flat. I need this, but in a way it is also a side effect. When I'm on it, there are a lot of things I don't care about. I also lost my appetite for a long time.
@Tea and Honey What amount are you on? Does the smallest dose make you feel flat too? See I was on sertraline 50mg and I did so well on it I didn’t feel different the only thing I didn’t like was the weight gain
@Anonymous I started with 30 mg , pretty small. Bumped it down to 20. I can still feel the effects. But overall I feel good!! It probably depends on the person

@Anonymous I bet that would be a fairly small effect. That sounds good to try. Overall, I feel really good in it. It just flattens emotions, etc.

Like all medications, there's a lot. Thankfully it's very unlikely that you get them all at the same time! Nervousness Insomnia Diarrhea Dry mouth Heartburn Yawning Weakness Shaking Loss of appetite Weight loss Unusual dream Sexual problems (depends on your gender) And headaches You should see a doctor If you experience rash, hives or blisters, itching, joint pain, any swelling, fast, slow or irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, dizziness, seizures or abnormal bleeding or bruising. It's unlikely that you'll experience more than 2 of the normal symptoms though! I personally didn't have a very good experience on Prozac, but you shouldn't let the not so good cases deture you. As long as it works for you that's what matters! My boyfriend has been on Prozac since November and he's been doing pretty good with it.

@Anonymous Mine were pretty bad. I didn't get a whole lot of side effects, thankfully. It kind of just heightened what was already there. Mine was nausea and nervousness. Like I said though I already had those side effects due to my anxiety. The worst thing I got was a couple of unexplained panic attacks. Soooo definitely not for me but as I said you shouldn't let my bad case deter you!
Thank you! What lead you to switch to sertraline? Funny enough I was on it for 3 years and loved it but the third year I noticed a lot of weight gain from it even tho I was eating like my usual self so that’s why I tapered off. But it helped me but it also gave me the worst withdrawals and I’m tryna get back on a SSRI with less weight gain which seems to be Prozac so. But did Prozac work for you? I just want to stay on a low dose of 10mg cuz I heard 20mg makes u feel like a zombie when I never felt like a zombie on sertraline so
can anyone give me some insight on this? i was given 20 mg of prozac by my doctor to help me calm down while i wait for a psychiatrist appointment for ocd (i went in for an ekg because i was worried. nothing was wrong) yesterday was the 2nd dose, should i expect anything? i almost feel like it keeps me up at night since i take it around 7 pm, and i already have been sleeping poorly for a week or so.
I was diagnosed with OCD and I started Prozac 10 days ago. I have struggled with intrusive taboo sexual thoughts for 12+ years (I’m 24) but now I feel like it’s turning into feelings. I’ve never done anything to anyone or nor do I wish to ever. I am just scared of my own brain if this is something I actually want. My psychiatrist said I should feel better/start getting clarity after 2 weeks. But I keep feeling worse and worse. Anyone else has experience with Prozac and how it went for them?
I am having a really hard time with ocd and anxious thoughts and feeling extremely uneasy. I'm home alone today so it's really easy for me to get stuck in my thoughts. I'm on day 4 of prozac. I felt like yesterday I had a period of time of about 30 minutes where I felt really focused and like the anxiety lifted completely. But then an obsession started and it brought me right back down. Hopefully I feel relief again today. I'm going to go get some house work done to take my mind off of things. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with prozac? How long until you felt any relief? Any really bad side effects? Any unforseen pluses? Much appreciated.
