Worried about tetanus

I was trying to put a bag of screwdrivers away and one of them got caught into my finger and left a small puncture. I was bleeding a bit but I applied pressure, the bleeding stopped, and then I put a bandage on. Then I got worries about tetanus and I saw that this is a pretty fatal infection that could possibly happen and it makes me want to visit an urgent care tomorrow for a tetanus shot. It's only a small little puncture wound, but I've took about 5 minutes to wash it with soap and water and then put a bandage on it. Should I still be worried about this?

Yesterday I also accidentally cut my toe on apart of a bed that was metal and applied pressure with tissue and put a bandage on it. I didn't wash it but I lotioned the area. Am I going to be okay?

I think you're going to be okay, I think tinnitus is only from stray screws outside?

@Northern_Downpour Hello! It's nice to see you. These screwdrivers were always kept in a plastic bag within another bag. I don't actively clean them but I don't think they have dust.

@BigGyro09 Yeah! I don't think they're infected then if they were kept nice. I've cut my finger on a nail from an old drawer once and I was fine, had the same fear.

@Northern_Downpour Now that you've mention it, I've had worse cuts on metal in the past and when had splinters when I was younger but never got hit with tetanus. Maybe I will be fine then. Thanks for commenting. How have you been lately?

@Northern_Downpour I also remember cutting the back of my hand against something things I think was metal by accident and I was fine. My skin is just a little darkened where it was cut

@BigGyro09 I've been okay! Thanks for asking. I hope you've been doing alright. I've been struggling a bit ocd wise as I've been doing ERP for a while now and I haven't made much progress so now I'm treatment is being reevaluated. Which sucks. I'm feeling kind of down about bit.

@Northern_Downpour Sorry to hear about the ERP progress. You've told me about that and I'd imagine it can feel really difficult. Do you think you've made at least a little bit of progress with it all? By reevaluated, you mean you're switching therapists? I hope that gets better. I'm sure you'll find something! I've been doing okay, I finally got to see my PCP and tell them about everything. That was a bit nerve wracking but it was worth it. I do hope everything gets better overtime. Have you been doing anything to try and keep your mood up?

Tetanus is actally caused by a bacteria that is found in soil outside. Its not from rust which is a common misconception. It can also be spread through animal bites. a Tetanus shot is effective for 10 years. I got bit by my indoor cat very badly last year, I called my dr to ask for advice( animal bites are notorious for getting infected) he said come on in and get a tetanus shot and some antibiotics so i did, My husband is a firefighter and got bit by a dog on call around the same time, they did the same thing for him. ITs really not a big deal an now we are covered for 10 years. So if i were you, id first just take a deep breath and relax. you almost certainly don't have tetanus, but i think getting a tetanus shot ( if you haven't had one in the past 10 years) can't hurt anything, just to give you peace of mind for the future.

Thanks a lot for this comment. I think I will end up getting a tetanus shot. It's like a "why not" kind of thing because it adds that extra level of protection. Only thing I worry about is how I'll react to it, though it likely wouldn't be a strong reaction.

@BigGyro09 - you wont react at all. it hurts for a few days. but no reactions. take some advil and you will be fine.

contamination OCD/health (HIV)

A few days ago, I posted how proud I am of myself, that I managed to go to the doctor to get a vaccination. Now, two days later, I find myself panicking and ruminating. It was a practice where they also test a lot for HIV and other blood diseases and in my mind, the needle/syringe they used for my vaccination was somehow contaminated with blood from another patient. Maybe by accident but sometimes my mind would make up a scenario where they would do it even on purpose. I was so proud of myself, that I managed to go there on Monday and now I am making up scenarios how I caught HIV by going there - I am feeling guilty because I was „careless“. Any tips for the moment? ❤️

I’m terrified I have rabies still

I posted here before but I picked up a kitten like a week ago on the road. The kitten is completely fine health wise and I can’t stop thinking I have rabies. What’s happening right now is I’ll take a drink and since I looked up that ppl with rabies have a hard time drinking I convinced myself I’m having a hard time swallowing and then that makes me panic then when I also read it makes ppl hydrophobic I’m turning that panic of thinking I have rabies into thinking I’m scared of water which furthers my obsession that I have rabies. I told my mom about all this and she told me I definitely do not have rabies just like she told me yesterday and it’s not helping and it won’t help. I’m thinking of doing the rabies shot that you get before you show symptoms in case i haven’t actually showed symptoms yet. I’m so scared I don’t want to die. I keep drinking water to prove to myself that I can swallow it. And the fact that you cant have a definite answer if u have it until you die is rlly rlly rlly freaking me out.

Here we go again..

Hi guys I know I keep posting but I having real bad anxiety rn. My bathroom sink was plugged and my dad came and fixed it but he put the drain stopper on the top of my bathroom counter which got me frustrated. Mind you it was dirty water with like black particles on my COUNTER!!! I tried to keep my composure and told my dad that I appreciate him doing this and I know he has a way of doing things , but told him to not do that. He kinda got annoyed but I told him it really bothered me. He finally unclogged the drain and everything’s fine now. During him fixing it, I was there watching him closely n I watched as he put the drain stopper on top of my counter it got on the side of my gel that I use for my hair. Now I’m having false memory that the water splashed on my skin care products. Like what if the bacteria got inside my cleanser? I don’t even wanna wash my face. I thought about cloroxing each item but it seems like no matter how much I wash them, nothing helps and I keep wanted to buy more and more Clorox . I don’t wanna buy another cleanser bc 1.) it’s 11:23pm and 2.) it will make things worse. I’m scared but I’m gonna cleanse my face with it anyways . 😞 please any advice would help
