discerning the Holy Spirit vs anxiety

i feel like anxiety is attacking me so bad. i will done about a decision, then a couple seconds/minutes later, i feel bad about it. then i feel overwhelmed & like i NEED to make a decision. i feel like God is far and all i can do is cry. with either decision, there’s fear and anxiety. i just feel overstimulated. i can’t tell if that’s the Holy Spirit or just anxiety. like maybe i wouldn’t feel this anxiety if i just “obeyed”, but when i do make the opposite “obeying” decision, i feel awful, heartbroken, and anxious. feeling like i made the wrong choice. i’m just crippled by fear.

Hi. I get exactly what you're going through. OCD can really mess up my wall with God as well. 2 Timothy 1:7 " For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." I find the calmest, quietest "voice" is most likely the one I need to pay attention to. Also, God loved you unconditionally before, and will love you unconditionally always. I think whena decision between 2 options has to be made, sometimes it's not God saying to chose one over the other, but God saying "if you make choice #1... glorify Me. If you make choice #2...glorify Me." It's not what we do, but Who we do it for. May the God of grace and peace, give you that peace through His presence in this moment. My prayer for you. 🙏🏼

The Holy spirit never scare us, He speaks to us in a gentle peaceful voice. Jesus tells us that His sheeps know His voice. Try to calm down your system, He speaks in the quiet.

No matter what decision you make, your OCD will always tell it’s wrong that’s just OCD in a nutshell. You are not betraying God and even if you were he wouldn’t mentally overwhelm you. He’d allow you to think for yourself and determine what you did is right or wrong and if it was wrong he’d let you come to him and discuss it. If it helps, I think God would want the best for you and understands that you are struggling. He’d want you to not ache yourself over these decisions ❤️

@Hieronymus that’s why i think this feeling isn’t God. i feel like He’s disappointed if I stay and if I go, He’s like “now I do My work”. it’s just so heavy
