What meds/doses are you guys on and have they alleviated distress for you?

Fluoxetine, 80 Mg it helps a lot!
Luvox and on rare occasions Klonopin
@emmahitam I strongly believe benzodiazepines have their place in treatment. Some doctors are against them, but you can always find a new one if needed. In my darkest days benzodiazepines have been a literal lifesaver. I try to take them as little as possible in the smallest dose possible. Have you ever taken them before?
@emmahitam Totally understand, some doctors are very much against them while others hand them out like candy. When used appropriately, they are a lifesaver. I am so sorry your are going through this and hope you get relief soon
@emmahitam Klonopin. It’s long acting and takes a while to “kick in”. seems to be favored over quick and hard hitting benzos like Xanax.
@emmahitam We call it the same! I have heard good things about Valium aswell! Hopefully you can get relief.
@emmahitam I’ve found prescribed Gabapentin (100mg +) to help with anxiety attacks and intrusive thoughts plus it’s as needed and non-addictive.
Venlafaxine 75mg. Has helped a lot since I first started taking it. Some days are still better than others but the overwhelming anxiety is not present all of the time anymore
I looked up the ingredients in some of the meds. Mine has antifreeze in it so ya therea that. Lexapro. Propylene glycol i believe it was. I wonder why the dont put it on the bottle?
Venlafaxine, Tryptizol and Quetiapine. It is not perfect but they help a bit and I can see the difference, also I feel like they helping me more in my depression that OCD
this is a discussion you should have with your Dr. as you can see, everyone is on something different and what works for one person might not work for the next. Comparing meds is dangerous because you can give yourself false expectations when you might be trying one of them and stay on the wrong med too long waiting for it to work or not stay on the right one long enough to let it work. In general, SSRIs and SNRIs are the first line in treating OCD/Anxiety/Depression and there are some rapid anxiety/panic abortive medications like Benzos and relaxants for fast relief. discuss this with your Doctor to see what might be the best one for you to try. Life style modifications can do wonders too. walks at a brisk pace that make me pant a bit as well as HOT baths with lavender sooth me very much.
Im on 20 mg of escitalopram and it’s working so far. My anxiety is basically gone but the intrusive thoughts are still present just not as strong. Some odd day here and there the thoughts come back full strength but overall ok. When that happens I take clonazepam or seroquel 1 mg
Prozac and Zoloft both worked well for me!
100mg Zoloft. It helps more than Prozac.
Hello. I am a mom of a 15 yo who has been diagnosed with severe OCD and also depression and anxiety disorders. Medication was recommended. Specifically clomipramine. As of now he refuses to take it. Says he 50 % of the way considering it. He was not able to complete most of his HW last week, spends much of the day feeling anxious, isolates in his room for hours. Says he wants to try to manage it - says he’s doing better bc he was able to focus in his math class - says he doesn’t want med bc he is afraid it will mess w his mind (numb his feelings). Any advice for how to get him over this hump? Any good experience from med? It’s hard for me to watch him suffer knowing that med is an option and he could be feeling better. Also hard to watch him get zeros in classes when he is smart and capable. Thank you ahead of time. Also, his NOCD therapist is on vacation but had recommended med as well to help my son engage better in ERP
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?
