How have you dealt with this? OCD definitely has affected my relationship but he’s been and stayed with me for over a year and a breakup hasn’t happened. Yet in my mind I’m not worthy of a relationship because of my mental health. Help?
I have dealt with this my whole life. I started by realizing that I was just as worthy as anyone else. Name good qualities you have and then name the things that you’d like to work on. Everyone has flaws and that is normal, if everyone was perfect you’d get bored because you’re never changing. Another thing that is very helpful is confronting the fear, it can be very scary but the more you listen to the fear the bigger it grows. Our emotions love themselves and so you need to starve the negative ones out. Ask yourself why you feel that way and why it’s so scary. Then start to do the opposite, tell yourself you are worthy and that if you want a relationship you absolutely deserve it. Be okay with someone missing out on the person that you are because your true love is yourself and you need to be content who are and love that person. Hope this helps, you got this no matter what!
Oh I have felt that way in past relationships too. It's like I'm waiting for the shoe to drop and definitely makes my ocd and anxiety worse.

I just “came out” to my boyfriend and I’m feeling the same way you are. He has been amazing so far, but my brain is convincing me that my themes are too terrible and the possible mistakes I’ve made are too awful for him to stay. He keeps reassuring me, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be 100% convinced. Obviously we know that reassurance doesn’t help. But, that’s also just what loved ones do. I’m so sorry we’re going through this ❤️😫
I’ve been dealing with a terribly overwhelming bout of OCD for a few months now, possibly the worst I’ve ever had in my 12 years of having it; which is what led me here. I’ve always had doubts in my long term relationship, but none that have been quite this vicious, making me question my sense of safety with this sweet man who has ALWAYS made me feel safe and comfortable. It picks on every aspect of our relationship, and any moment it can to make me question if he’s actually secretly a bad person. This thing has a chokehold on me and it is so scary and debilitating, especially with it targeting something I care so deeply about. And now weeks into therapy, I almost feel that unpacking it is making me feel worse and my OCD is finding all sorts of new things to pick on. Any comforting words would be appreciated… I’m trying really hard to work through this.
I am a 22 year old female and have never gotten into a relationship due to the fact that I have OCD and how ugly it can get at times. I also feel like I would be a burden and be too much to handle especially in modern dating when people want to have fun and dont want to deal with anything that's exhausting not saying it's wrong but that's how it is. I have these two mindsets of 'I'll have someone who will accept me someday' Or 'I'll just be on my own cause that's what's good for me'.I don't think anyone will look at me and think they want to settle down with me or stuff. I feel like i will be too much to handle. Even if someone likes me, they will never actually love me enough to spend their life with me. Maybe if I were more pretty maybe people might put up with me idk really. This just saddens me to the core. I don't know how to deal with this. Is there any hope for me P.S my ocd is manageable most of the time but when it flares up it gets ugly and i go non-functional
So i use to get a lot of relationship OCD. I recently got into a relationship two months ago. i have been experiencing some relationship OCD thoughts like “do i like my partner enough” and to complete the compulsion of telling them that i am having this thought. I use to be able to conquer them but after bringing it up in therapy it got worse. does anyone have any recommendations on how to conquer this compulsion and thought? I don’t want to scare my partner away.
