Can I please hear some success stories with rocd? I see ones on here where it ends relationships and it's so scary to read. I would love to hear success stories. I have fear of him leaving me or cheating on me when I KNOW It's never happened and most likely won't. The fear is so hard to deal with when this theme spikes
Hii! I'm in a relationship and I had very bad ROCD but since I started therapy it got so much better! I was very bad and there were times I was hopeless, but don't give up!! I'm still struggling a bit, but at this moment I learned so much, it doesn't intefere negatively with my relationship anymore. So there is definitely hope š«¶š¼
Thanks! He knows and he's supportive. There's been other themes which makes it easier to believe it's just the Ocd, not real. I'm in therapy also. One thing I've noticed is that when my mind gets on another theme I don't even think about the relationship stuff. That is a clue for me. I told him the other day it's not always about you! LOL
I have ROCD and have been married for almost 6 years to my wife. It really all started when our relationship was getting serious and considering proposal and I didn't know I had OCD back then and wish I had. Overall it takes work and effort to in the relationship but it is totally doable. Being open and honest with my wife about OCD is tough to navigate because sometimes the intrusive thoughts are about them and it can feel isolating to lonely as you don't want to hurt them. I have worked on how to self soothe and address those thoughts with therapy here at NOCD. Additionally finding other coping mechanisms and people who aren't your significant other can be valuable.
Iāve worked on my ocd for years now, and more often than not itās manageable, but when my ROCD flares up it really bothers me. Iāve been with my partner 7 years everything is fine realistically but after a triggering argument I keep getting intrusive thoughts that my partner is cheating on me. I have no proof because thereās been no real reason to believe it other than minor changes in his behavior (he recently was laid off and is a bit stressed so itās understandable.) I can tell Iām going through ocd because itās leading me to feel the need to check, ask reassurance, and think things through constantly. Iām trying to get over it but it makes me worry if it is really happening and Iām not having ocd. Even though my partner has never given me a solid reason to believe they would do that to me. Itās just so hard because I feel like no matter how many times he proves to me heās not my brain still comes up with a reason it may be true. I also donāt want to be a toxic partner and I have explained to him what is happening. I just canāt seem to get any comfort and my brain continuously has been taking moments that were probably innocent and turning it into potential evidence. Has anyone else dealt with this theme? I feel like Iām going crazy
Hey yāall this is my first post. Iāve known Iāve had ocd for around 6 years now, but havenāt had much specialized help (just a standard therapist, who is great, she suggested this app) Iām mainly just posting to vent and for people to hopefully make me feel a little less alone in my current situation. Iāve developed coping skills for many of my ocd obsessions in the past, but havenāt really made a dent in what Iām realizing is pretty bad ROCD. I was in an abusive relationship for about 4 years, and it was this weird thing where like I would not only be unhappy from the abuse but also have intense ROCD. Which is relevant, because Iām now in a super happy and healthy relationship, but am unfortunately still experiencing ROCD. And of COURSE that makes my brain feel either like love is just never going to work out for me, or that this new relationship is wrong for me, which I know isnāt the case. But itās just so exhausting feeling like I have this horrible brain fog around my partner half the time. I never felt like this when my partner and I were just best friends for 6 months, and all thatās changed is that she is even sweeter and more attentive to me. This just all sucks so bad, and I think I should talk to a specialist about it.
Hi all, recently became stuck on the idea of my wife and I splitting up, and the impact on our dynamic and our child. We have a very healthy relationship, and have been together over a decade. I love her completely and am typically a golden retriever type partner. She's everything to me and then some, which is why these thoughts are so distressing. I've never done therapy, and recently tried antidepressants which spiked my anxiety through the roof so I stopped. I've been dealing with with this for about 3 months. In my constant googling I came across Pure O and ROCD, and based on all I've read seems to align with my experience. This may be reassurance seeking, but would love to celebrate success stories of others who have been able to overcome the intrusive thoughts and find peace. This feels like such a lonely subtype because I can't fully share with and lean on my best friend who I'm used to telling everything to. I'm also not used to needing support. I'm usually the supporter.
