I’m struggling.

I’m struggling tonight. I seen something Instagram about a manifestation/karma and I responded to it, I looked on the profile after responding to it and one post it said black magic spells. I’m now having a really hard time that I’ve done something bad and I’ve messed with black magic.. I deleted the response and blocked the user, but my anxiety is through the roof stuff like that scares me and I’m crying. I’m so scared right now that something bad is going to happen 😢😢

Sorry this has you feeling so uneasy. Do you actually think magic spells can have any real effect? Or do you rationally know that’s a superstition?

@AntoniOcd I’m asking because idk what level of acceptance of symptoms you’re working with, since so much magical-thinking is normalized in culture, by religions and other popular superstitions like Karma or witchcraft. I know people who don’t even have an anxiety disorder who are just rationally worried about spooky things, like ghosts or going to hell, because they genuinely are convinced that’s part of reality. For some all that worry vanishes once they grow up and realize they don’t have good reason to believe that’s real. But some people who no longer think hell is real still ominous feelings or traumatic nightmares about it, just because of the emotional conditioning from childhood indoctrination. So whether you consider your obsessive worries about magic spells rational or irrational could make a big difference for how you approach managing the anxiety.

@AntoniOcd I believe in spells etc. the thought of them gives me anxiety, scares me that bad things will happen to me or come my way. I’ve had this theme for a while it’s one of my harder ones

@abbyx13 O, okay. What have therapists said about that belief? Do they challenge the truth of it, or just work with your anxiety without challenging it? (to be clear I do not believe magic spells do anything outside fiction stories)

I’ve not spoken to a therapist about it. I wish I believe like that, I do believe to a extent they are not realy the power of the unknown gets the better of me and now I’m terrified because I can’t know for sure

Help??

Basically I had a bad violent intruisve thought and I was scrolling through instagram story and on the chat box underneath my mind made me write it down on the reply box but I didn’t send it I wrote it down then got rid of it liked cleared it now I’m like why did my mind make me write that . ! Now I’m like omg why did I write that will anything happen or am I overthinking?

Anyone religious on here?

im scared. I keep compulsively praying for bad things or death on the people I love. I don’t understand why. It doesn’t make anything better. I’m scared that these prayers count. I seal them as I do with most of my prayers in Jesus name and with a double amen. I’m scared God will want to teach me a lesson and make something come true. I’m scared I mean these prayers, I’m petrified. If something happened, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself :( I don’t know where to go from here

I hate it

Bro I'm scared rn, so there was a compulsion I did like 2hrs ago and I didn't do it properly cuz I kept getting a thought saying "something is gonna come in Ur room and kill you or you will have this illness It triggers me to say it but I froze because I kept seeing like a shadow and cuz I was home alone and it's dark so I didn't answer it 😃 and cuz I answered it late saying obviously I don't want to illness I would rather have the other (half of me knows it's not real), and I prayed 4 times as well cuz I didn't do the compulsion properly I tried doing it again logs if times and 1 hour later I tried again but It still didn't feel right, and now the thought is hurting my body a little and I feel shivery, and I have tried doing the compulsion but it's not working. Why can't these thighs just leave me alone and stop saying about illnesses all the time. And idk how I'm gonna get thru the night cuz I can't get the thought out of my head and I won't be able to do anything properly.
