Does anyone else struggle with OCD in general but it’s the POCD that bothers them the most and what they can’t accept and move on from? I’m really struggling and I’m a new mum and just so fearful of going into a really dark place.
Hey- you are not alone. I first started struggling with POCD as one of my first symptoms. I was 11, and terrified I would do something to children my own age. Which doesn’t even make sense. I started warning my friends and everything, and isolating myself. Sometimes I still struggle with POCD. It’s awful and soul crushing, because obviously being a P is something objectively awful, so talking about it is scary. But talking about it, processing it, learning to cope with it are all important parts of healing. Please see somebody if you start feeling like you’re in a dark place- postpartum depression is no joke. Take care ❤️
@ccnsbg042 @ccnsbg042 I feel I could cope with any other obsession but the P makes it so hard to live with. I know when my life changed forever from my first POCD thought which was 8 years ago and my life has never been the same since. I always thought it would stop me having children of my own but I knew deep down without POCD I would have loved children and I didn’t want it to rule my life. I was doing extremely well, my son was born and I was so in love. None of the thoughts were there and I almost felt like I’d found my purpose in life but then suddenly, the last 2 weeks I’ve completely relapsed and it’s got worse. I wish someone else with POCD could share their dark intrusive thoughts so I knew it was normal but that’s the part I can’t accept, it’s far from normal the thoughts I have and it makes me feel there is no way out for me. I’m at the point where everything is a trigger and I don’t know if they are my own past sexual thoughts/experiences but OCD making me feel I’ve thought it about my child or other children, or adults etc. everything has turned sexual and I’m not even like that as a person!
@Anonymous You just said it! You are NOT like that! You have OCD, you are experiencing a flare up!!! It doesn’t mean shit beyond the fact that it is your brain glitching. Radical acceptance of these facts my dear friend. You are greater than your ocd!!!! Lean into your tru values! Sending you love and big huge hugs!
@vgb So why does it pick the theme it does? Why can’t it be about something else, anything else! I just want to be normal but everytime I feel a tiny bit better, it reminds me of my thoughts and tells me no normal person would ever have that cross their mind so why have you. You’re disgusting, a monster and it never stops.
Hi! How’s it going? To answer your question as to why…. Cuz it’s all about keeping us stuck in the what if grip. We have OCD. IT SUCKS! Themes change. They come. They go. It’s just the luck of the draw. I feel you! When I was postpartum my theme was killing my baby….. he’s 34😱😂and there have been times I really wanted to….. those teenage years!!!!oh boy. Sometimes you have to laugh at the absurdity
I’ve always had ocd. But never experienced pocd until after I got pregnant and was fixing to deliver. Anyone else? I’ve been struggling with this for almost 2 years 😩 and Prozac gives me heart palpitations I’m at my breaking point. Idk who I am anymore. And it’s so hard having to be a mother of two on top of not wanting to do anything bc my brain tells me everything I’m doing is inappropriate ☹️
Hey friends. I hope you all are doing good today. Just struggling mentally myself. Feel like a terrible mother, but I want another baby. My OCD has gotten better despite the terrible episode I had that I seem to not get over. I hope someone comments that could just give me some support with POCD
Hi there! I am 4 months postpartum and struggling with harm ocd, the fear of what if I harm my child. It has manifested to the fear of what if I harm my husband, sister, nieces, parents, etc. Anyone else have this experience and how did you get through it?
