Today I once again have been trapped in the mental cycle of worrying i’m going to get sick, or something life changing will happen to my body / health that will affect my future. I helped a bird today, so now i’m worried i’ll get bird flu. I had a call with my GP confirming a have an infection in my uterus from IUD insertion (she’s not worried about it apparently) so now i’m worried i’ll be infertile because of it.
Hi there. Glad to see your post. I am having a similar spiral. I’m waiting on bloodwork from a doctor related to my fertility and they are also checking for infectious diseases. This has completely disarmed me until I get the results. In the meantime I have re played all the past events that could have caused contamination like HIV. I did some ozone therapy blood treatments last year at a wellness clinic, which was 4.8 stars on reviews, and I can’t shake the fact that in my mind the equipment wasn’t sterile and that my life is forever changed. It’s so hard. I reached out to endless people yesterday seeking conversation and reassurance of my thoughts and whether they were warranted. My husband is also very tired of my health fears. It’s very debilitating. I just wanted you to know I hear you and understand completely. I think the contamination / health ocd is one of the hardest to battle bc often it is not rectified without some kind of test which then causes anxiety for days until results come in. If you want to chat I’m happy to as it sounds like today we are both in spirals.
@OCDfriends You have no idea what this message means to me. I completely relate to this. I had the IUD inserted a month ago, just finished my first period cycle and then almost of a sudden i’m getting cramps. Long story short they test for infection, and for stis. Well my goodness the ringer i put myself through thinking it was an STI even though i’ve been in a very loving and committed relationship for nearly 18 months (i also have relationship OCD). Yesteray confirms no stis of course but today doc says i have a “little bug up there” - not great to hear those words with ocd right 🤣 but she genuinely didn’t seem concerned about it at all. But every little cramp or zap i get makes me so anxious. I know once i take the medicine i’ll be okay but it’s the whirlpool of thoughts that’s come with it.
@OCDfriends my response is very rambled, i’m not in a clear headspace right now and feel i’m on the cusp of an anxiety attack. but i want to reiterate how much your response made me feel better and how much i relate to what you have said. please keep in touch 🙂
@memomamo What is the name of the “bug”? Is it bacterial vaginosis (VB)?
@memomamo I am here for ya! I too am waiting on results and just about to have an anxiety attack. I also have relationship ocd by the way. My health ocd gets really bad around routine screening stuff though. It’s a long journey of ups and downs surrounding different obsessions w my health. I think we both need to practice breath work. 🤍
@OCDfriends nah, i don’t have anything like that. she didn’t say really! she just said “it likes to live in dark places where there’s no oxygen” and how it could have been there for ages but the insertion of the coil has triggered it. she made it all sound quite normal!! i’m getting an antibiotic gel to insert for 5 days and “that’ll clear it up” - she was very nonchalant about it. i said something like in a very obvious jokey way “i assume it’s not life threatening since i won’t be back in the city until friday” and she chuckled and said “absolutely not” - i’m doing everything in my power to not google what it could be, i think she deliberately didn’t tell me the name of it because it’ll say on my record i have ocd and that i’m a known symptom googler thus resulting in me visiting my gp 😅
@memomamo Ah we must be kindred spirits. Don’t worry at all about what the doc said about that bug. I had something similar a month ago from some fertility probing stuff and it disrupted me down there. I took about a week of medication inserted down there too and it went away. I’m 100% positive u don’t even need to think about this “bug” and it is 100% from the IUD. Weird things that aren’t normally inserted there can just be a b*tch for women w how fragile we are. Glad you’re ocd is lightening up. I’m over here spiraling still. Xo

Starting to think I have unresolved childhood trauma unfortunately. Health OCD is also driving my absolutely crazy but I'm too scared to go to my doctor. I worry about diabetes, illnesses, cancer, skin problems, etc. I just hope everything works out in the end. Right now I just can't do the things I love doing because I'm constantly worrying about everything. All of my worries are exacerbated and I just can't keep them away. They only come back.
So everything has been going well recently. The only thing pressing is for peace of mind I am getting STD tested on Wednesday morning and I am pretty anxious about what the result will say. I go to certain massage parlors that offer extras. And I have made a point to not engage in intercourse but other non-intercourse things I have done. I was afraid that since those women do other things with people that maybe virtual things were left on the beds I would lay down on or something. I told this to a doctor I saw recently and they said it was highly unlikely. But I still have the health worry. But we will see come Wednesday. The only reason I am going is because I went to the urologist and they wanted me to rule things out since I had what seemed like a UTI but it turned out to not be the case. What's a good way to not focus on catastrophizing the situation. I keep worrying that my life is over if I am diagnosed with something and my future relationships will be tainted or I'll put someones health in jeopardy
This has recently developed into something much bigger than it originally was. When this past winter season started, i noticed more people were getting the stomach bug than usual. I was fine at first, until I was noticing almost one person in every class was saying they recently had it. I researched about it, and I found what I was looking for unfortunately. Norovirus cases were surging across the U.S because of a new strain of NoV that recently had been spreading. This immediately altered my way of thinking. Everywhere I went, I would be overly cautious of what’s around me and whose around me. The first obsessive compulsive problem I had was that I couldn’t eat at lunch anymore unless I washed my hands. One time, I didn’t have an option to wash my hands, so I didn’t eat lunch. That’s when I knew it was interfering with my daily life, and it was becoming a serious issue. There was another time where some guy threw up near me in the hallway trash can. My mind was spiraling. all. day. long. It felt like it was consuming me alive. Not a minute would go by where I wouldn’t think about it, and the high possibility of me catching this virus. There’s been so many other scenarios where I feel myself losing it. I’m not the best of explaining in detail how my mind feels when it spirals, but the best thing I could say is that I could feel myself slowly losing my mind. It takes over my life. I HAVE to act on my compulsive acts, if not, i’ll have these obsessive thoughts until it consumes me whole. I’ve had nervous breakdowns, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, insomnia, and it almost feels like it’s causing me to have an eating disorder. Most recently, I went to use the bathroom and saw what looked like puke on the toilet seat. I was already using it, so I just finished my buisness and rushed out there asap. I figured, if I fasted for two days, what’s there to puke if I do catch NoV? So, I did. I missed school because on the second day of fasting, I became very dehydrated. I was weak, and couldn’t move. I realized what this all rooted back to. That’s when I knew I needed help.
