Does anybody else start to remember a conversation differently than how it happened? Like suddenly you start questioning whether or not you said something bad/offensive even though you know you wouldn’t but it feels so REAL :/
Absolutely, it’s just so difficult, like for me personally it’s remembering events and people, thinking did this really happen or did I just make it up now, like to be honest it’s an endless cycle because there is no hard and fast rule to know the real truth either, and as usual “thinking” we might get some relief we follow compulsions which further worsens it. As everything in OCD, logically knowing something really won’t help much as OCD can’t be countered with just logics, as it operates largely on an emotional level! I know it’s really really difficult, even I currently face it, but gradually making us understand that our real memory and our “instincts” are way more reliable than OCD that works by presenting “irrational” facts that distort us from all corners, moreover it have no roots in the actual reality too even if we don’t feel that way. I for sure know it might not help much now, since OCD obviously hates uncertainty and it would take a lot of time to get a perspective. But with time surely progress adds up!! :)

I have been on this app and on treatment for almost a year now, and I am recovering, but I have recently started experiencing false memories- I feel like it’s my OCD trying to interfere more now that I am unbothered by my symptoms. Recently I have been having moments where I wonder if I had said something terrible to someone or if I committed an act, it feels so real but it’s never as vivid as a real memory. It’s like trying to remember a dream. It is okay, I know I wouldn’t have done any of those things.
It feels as real as it can get today, I’m in such a bad flare with my ocd lately and I don’t know what’s happened. I was doing so so well and I’m back to this horrible place. Everything is getting to me, the real details especially. It’s all just consuming me today. I feel terrible.
How vivid are your false memories? I didn’t have this FM until i kept thinking into if something happened on a night i was drinking Now ive come up with the worst possible scenario and my brain is convincing me its true with IMAGES Anyone else go through this?
