I don’t know what it is, but I have an odd trepidation of change. There is something about it. When I buy a new shirt, I fear something bad might happen if I wear it. When we moved to a new house, I didn’t like the change at all, for 5 months straight. When I used to rent cars, I would get emotional turning them in. Why does this happen?
i’ve experienced this too- to the point where when i was younger i would purposely not learn how to read or write and cry when i started losing teeth. because it’s something i’ve dealt with my whole life i’ve thought a lot about it, and i think it all comes down to the fear of uncertainty. in a new shirt anything can happen because there are no experiences with it, on the other hand, you know something like your old house is safe and gives you comfort, so leaving it behind is like leaving behind something that you know to be safe. i’m not sure if this makes much sense but this is how i’ve explained this strange feeling to myself
I’m with you, i’m getting better and I think it’s because in our minds change = bad because change = risk and uncertainty. But we fail to realize that every good thing that has ever happened to us is in one form or another a product of change. We just weren’t fully aware. Change is always scary, but our perspectives and mindset can effect how we feel about it.
expose yourself more to change. Don’t resist it. Wear that new shirt, turn in that car with a smile. Accept how scary it is for you but don’t listen to your fears about this one
When I got divorced, my parents passed and my youngest daughter moved out the change made me immobile I literally lost my job just laid in bed and could not do anything like a mental breakdown. Ended up selling my home and leaving everything behind and moving to an apartment which again was hard. I feel like I am just lost now and not the same person I was. Crazy but I avoid all people and all situations that cause anxiety and hate to grocery shop or being around crowds
Didn’t you try any therapy for that ? I have also a fear when surrounding people im doing the Erp for this, im feeling better than before

Recently I have started obsessing over my looks especially with regards to aging. I feel that I'm getting "old" (silly I know, I'm 25 turning 26) and I feel like I'm getting body dismorphia or something. Ive realised I'm scared of losing my youth (not necessarily with regards to looks). I am scared to become an actual adult with responsibility. This also correlates with me moving in with my boyfriend and things progressing towards more serious stuff (engagement maybe?). And next year I'll graduate. It's all so scary. And I feel like I'm very very strict and obsessive with a lot of things in my life right now. Anyone relate?
Does anyone else have a such a bad fear of death that it keeps you up at night? Makes you scared to close your eyes? I’ve been struggling with this for years & don’t know how to accept the fact I’ll die one day. For example when people I knew from school or through my parents etc died I will fear for days I’ll be next. My friend can’t even mention dying or death around me because it will my emotions & fear. I am so scared to die tragically, (murder, car accident, shooting etc.) I am scared to die young. I am scared I won’t become elderly. I’m scared going in to a new school year wondering If I’ll be next to die. I’m scared of going into a new school year wondering if I’ll die in a shooting. I’m scared I will randomly have an unknown condition that can kill me. Sorry this is so long but I need to know if anyone else is like this.
I keep getting a random feeling of anxiety, I’ll be doing good/better and then it randomly pops into my head. It’s not a specific thought it’s more of like an uneasy feeling that I can’t wrap my head around. It feels like a deep sense of doom/fear or something like that. I’m not sure if me trying to figure it out is a compulsion/ my ocd just wanting to figure it out or if I should just sit with it and let it be.
